5th Swiss Global Change Day, Monday April 5 2004 in Bern

Biodiversity and Global Change

The Swiss Global Change Day is an event where the whole global change community can meet and discuss ongoing problems in a transdisciplinary manner. The aim is to present recent highlights in global environmental change research as well as to point out challenges for future research.
Besides there is the opportunity for people from governmental institutions, economy and politics to ask questions and explain their needs and views on the presented topics. Discussions with “provocators” will provide the corresponding frame.
The program is available on the ProClim web-site (see below). Three talks will be addressed to the topic biodiversity and global change:

Biodiversity of the largest global commons – the high seas.
Hans Thierstein, ETH Zürich

Biodiversity – an under-appreciated component of global change?
Andy Hector, University of Zürich

Linking emissions to changes in human well being and biodiversity – an integrated assessment of global change
Rick Leemans, Wageningen University, Netherlands
