NC SCOSTEP: National Committee of the Scientific Committee on Solar Terrestrial Physics
The goal of the national SCOSTEP committee is to strengthen the Swiss solar-terrestrial community by connecting scientists with interests in all aspects of solar-terrestrial physics, including fundamental solar physics, space-weather, and the influence of solar activity and solar variability on the Earth's atmosphere and climate. The committee represents the community within Switzerland and internationally.
After the successful second national workshop, held in October 2017 in Locarno, it was decided to organize the third workshop in spring 2019 at PMOD/WRC Davos.
With the addition of Dr. Wojciech Hajdas, the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) is now also represented on the committee, while Prof. Stefan Brönnimann (Oeschger Center for Climate research) and Prof. Christoph Raible (University of Bern) did not renew their appointments.
A) Wissenschaftliche Zusammenarbeit
Dr. Marina Battaglia represented Switzerland in the Space Weather Expert Group meeting held on the occasion of the 55th session of the United Nations Scientifical and Technical Subcommittee (STSC) to the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS) in Vienna, Austria, from 29.1.-9.2.2018
B) Institutionelle Zusammenarbeit
Dr. Margit Haberreiter represented the Swiss community at the public discussion of the next international scientific SCOSTEP programme, held during the 14th Quadrennial Solar Terrestrial Physics Symposium in Toronto, Canada, from 9.7. - 13.7. 2018.
