Zusammenfassung

The goal of the national SCOSTEP committee is to strengthen the Swiss solar-terrestrial community by connecting scientists with interests in all aspects of solar-terrestrial physics, including fundamental solar physics, space-weather, and the influence of solar activity and solar variability on the Earth's atmosphere and climate. The committee represents the community within Switzerland and internationally.

Tagungen / Kurse

2nd Swiss SCOSTEP workshop, 10-11 October 2017

The 2nd Swiss SCOSTEP workshop was organized by the Istituto Ricerche Solari Locarno (IRSOL) in Locarno. It was attended by about 35 researchers with backgrounds ranging from fundamental solar physics, solar variability and its effects on Earth, in particular the climate system, to new measurement techniques and future satellite missions. For the first time, this included representatives from the fundamental plasma physics community and Meteoschweiz, indicating that the community is growing.

Internationale Aktivitäten

A member of the committee represented Switzerland in the Space Weather Expert Group meeting held on the occasion of the 54th session of the United Nations Scientifical and Technical Subcommittee (STSC) of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS) in Vienna from 30.1.-10.2.2017
